Objectives and context
TERO participated to the formulation of a cocoa and Andean fruits IFAP program support in Ecuador. In December 2015, the ministry of agriculture of Ecuador required the intervention of the International fund for agricultural development (IFAD) in order to strengthen agricultural value chains with a strong commercial and export potential (cocoa and Andean fruits). The future program focuses on farmer’s organizations support to improve their competitiveness and therefore their member’s incomes and living conditions.

SWOT analysis of the farmers organizations (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats)
Analysis of the pertinence to develop contract farming between farmers organizations and agroindustrial firms
Proposal of actions and monitoring indicators regarding the access of small farmers to the fair trade market
Identification of the economical, legal, political and social risks of the action and its sustainability at all levels
