Biofach

Sylvain at the Biofach 2018, meeting with Nelson Melo, Colombian, vice president of SPP GLOBAL, and Sylvia Roblero, Mexican, representing her cooperative.
TERO joined Global SPP at the Biofach, on February 15th.

In September 2017, TERO became an authorized certification entity for the Small Producers' Symbol (SPP). This label was created to promote a fair trade initiative focused on small producers.

In this context, our SPP Certification Coordinator, Sylvain Aubert, joined the SPP Global teams at the Biofach in Nuremberg, Germany. Biofach is the largest international fair for organic and fair trade actors.

On that occasion, he met various types of actors:
- Representatives of SPP Global, employees and farmers leaders from Colombia, Peru, Mexico ... with whom he discussed about the origin of the label, its specificities and its current evolution.
- Representatives of cooperatives and value chains stakeholders in the South. Sylvain presented SPP label and TERO certification service to cooperatives from Burkina Faso, Mali, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Vietnam... These persons showed interest and will be able to better inform their cooperatives in their country.
- Representatives of final buyers, mainly French and Italian, already involved in Fair Trade, who are now aware that they can count on TERO to develop their activities under the SPP label.
- Various actors involved in other Fair Trade initiatives, with whom the discussions clarified the position of SPP label and TERO service in a more global context.

For this opportunity, a brochure about TERO SPP certification service was printed in French and English and was widely distributed. A pdf version of this brochure will be sent if requested to s.aubert@tero.coop.
